Dacia Unruh's Submission:

Hi, my name is Dacia Unruh I have just turned twenty one and have been training for MABBA for approximately five months now. I've always wanted to be able to compete ever since my mom Katy started, though I never really pushed myself to stick with the diet and training. With all my mother's success, I had many doubts about me being able to do this sport. Seeing what my mom went through during her preparation for a show and what kinds of obstacles she had to face made it hard for me to get into the sport. However, after putting on about an extra thirty pounds since moving to Brandon, I found myself feeling very unmotivated and uncomfortable with my body. I'd always worked out with my mom at the gym for years and got involved with a few sports to stay active, but diet was still a struggle to keep up with. I realized that if I wanted my body to change, I needed to be more disciplined with myself and there was no easy way to do this. I finally started taking my training seriously at the end of October of last year and found myself a workout partner who is also an inspiring competitor and friend and has helped me stay focused and motivated. But it wasn't till the start of January when I really started taking my diet more serious.

My mom Katy Unruh has also been a tremendous help with my success in helping me with my diet, as well as training me and constantly showing support in every way. I honestly don't know how I would have come this far without her. There were so many times where I wanted to crack and dive into the cookie jar or go out and buy those Cadbury mini eggs I've been dying for, but with her help I stuck it out and I'm so glad I did. With all the support from my mom and my team, I found my diet getting easier to deal with and I started noticing changes not only in my body but also my attitude. I felt healthier, stronger and more positive towards life.

It was a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but in the last three months I have lost thirty pounds. I feel the healthiest and strongest I have ever been and feel so blessed to have the wonderful people in my life who have helped me reach my goal. I plan to continue with my training and use my success as motivation to taking me to many new and high places.
